Assessment of pressure loss of a kitchen extractor
13 August 2020
Adequate ventilation is essential to operate any domestic or industrial kitchen. The amount of ventilation required in a particular cooking area depends on various factors and is not easy to understand without the help of numerical simulation.
In this project, the pressure loss and the flow distribution of a kitchen extractor have been studied through a CFD calculation. The model includes a detailed geometry of the radial fan, as well as exhaust pipe and the fan’s surrounding.
Like most rotating machine problems, the MRF (Multiple Reference Frames) technology has been used to take the rotation of the fan into account.
